We Are Different
- We have in excess of 100 years of hands on operating experience, each having built our business into one of the leaders in its respective industry. Yes, we understand finance and have successfully completed in excess of 75 acquisitions between us, but we have done those as operators rather than finance experts.
- We invest primarily our own money so we are not driven to perform financial engineering feats or load companies with debt hoping to drive IRR performance or enhance other metrics so we can go out to raise our next fund. Yes, we do have high expectations of growth and financial returns, but because our money is on the table, we will not make financially driven decisions which may risk the stability of the business.
- We are long term investors, 10 to 20 years. We are focused on long term wealth creation and have no need to sell a business in order to collect our carried interest profit or other fees. If we own a good business, why sell it? Yes, we give our owner/manager partners the opportunity to exit their investment during our ownership period if they want or need to.
- We truly want to partner with existing ownership and management to grow the top and bottom lines of the business. We each started with small businesses and know how difficult it is to grow through certain hurdles, but we have done it. We want to use our experience to help other small businesses experience the same types of growth that we have. A success to us is one in which existing owners and managers make much more out of their business in the future than they do when selling controlling interest to us today.
